  17.     This guide has been put together by a teacher for
  18.     teachers and children to use in the classroom.
  19.     It will give them not just directions but a valuable
  20.     introduction in the use of some popular Archimedes
  21.     applications. By explaining in simple terms the
  22.     important procedures and some of the  facilities
  23.     available, the confidence gained will inspire the
  24.     child to go on to use some of the more advanced
  25.     facilities available. It is written so to instill
  26.     good practice and give confidence and understanding
  27.     when it comes to using other applications too.
  28.     The twin booklet “Rom with a view” has been put
  29.     together to give the all important background
  30.     understanding in using the Archimedes computers and
  31.     particularly for “working in the desk top” and should
  32.     be used alongside this booklet.

  34.     The guide has been written assuming that you
  35.     have a “Start” disc which has a system directory,
  36.     scrap directory and a printers application on and
  37.     separate discs for each application complete with
  38.     their support material.
  39.     It has been written for floppy disc computers
  40.     such as the A3000 but, if there is interest, it
  41.     could be rewritten as a separate document for
  42.     hard disc systems.
